Take Action!

The House of Representatives Ways & Means Committee (equivalent to our Appropriations Committee) is going to start work on the federal budget next week.

The Senate Finance Committee is not far behind.

Now is the time to support our representatives as they advance school choice through the federal budget process!

Now is the time

  • There are a few ways to send your thoughts to our federal delegation:

    • Use the CAPE Action Home*

    • Use the Nebraska Catholic Conference action center*

    • Directly message each official

The CAPE and NCC tools make sending your message simpler. Keep in mind:

    • The CAPE tool will send to Sens. Fischer and Ricketts and your congressman.

    • NCC’s tool will send to all three congressman, but not to the senators.

*The CAPE and NCC Action tools will provide prompts/pre-written text to send.

  • Time to write. Consider:

    • What am I uniquely qualified to share?

    • What story or stories do I want to share?

    • What tangible impact will this have beyond finances?

It is useful to start and conclude by expressing you want the representative to support the ECCA.

    Remember:

    • It is more important to send a message than have the exact right words

    • If you chose to use CAPE’s or NCC’s tools you will be provided a prompt to send or edit

    • Focus on helping families access education opportunities and the value your school provides to students and your community

  • Make your voice heard and represent your school community!

Again, it is more important to send a message than have the exact right words.
